Another pano taken on my night out in Old Quebec. I'm always amazed at how long exposure will erase many moving details. There were around 50 people skating on the ice, but less than 10 are visible; obviously the ones not moving.
Place d'Youville is one of the nicest place in the city. It has the Capitole (built in 1903 and now a Hotel and high class Concert Hall. Up the Place d'Youville, there is the Palais Montcalm build in the 1930s, and fully renovated a few years back. It has supposedly one of the best acoustics you can find in a Concert Hall. Place d'Youville is also part of many festivals in the summer, and has an ice rink in the winter.

51 images in 3 rows of 4-8-4 images + nadir * 3 exposures each.
Shot at 10mm, ISO400 f11 and 2.5s +\- 2 stop.
Generated 3 equirectangular panorama (one per exposure) with hugin and post process with photomatix.
Merged the photomatix result with the enfused output for a slightly more natural look

Cirque du Soleil 25th Anniversary Statue
This year is Cirque Du Soleil 25th anniversary. It all began in Baie-St-Paul, so the city celebrated throughout the year. Being a cirque du soleil fan, we went to see a few of those events, and shot this pano. It is actually shot from the middle of the statue erected for the 25th anniversary. The interactive version will give a better feel. I'll add within a few days another picture taken from a "normal" point of view.

The making of an addict - Her first try with fountain pens!
My daughter tried a fountain pen for the first time. I chose the pen, and she chose the ink.
I showed her the position of the finger on the pen and how to aligned the nib. She did a few drawings.
She was pretty proud of using daddy's pens. This may be the start of a second fountain pen addict in the house.
She is 3 years old.
For the FP freaks:
Lamy ABC Blue pen with A nib
Iroshizuku Tsutsuji Pilot ink (AKA "PINK" )

From Boucherville at night
After a big day, it was still quite warm outside, so I decided to skip some sleep and to go and take a few pictures. Had time to take only one pano. Night panos with my current lens are quite long to shoot. And this one, with all the reflections really needed the multiple long exposures.

New Sand Dunes and a few roofs
Finally had some time to post new images.
First is another pano I had made when we were visiting Tadoussac. This one was taken from the bottom of the sand dunes. See the interactive to get the feeling.
Interactive View.
This one is only about 180 degree wide. Taken from a bay window, I liked the way we could see all the roofs for a quite long distance.

Bad Bay Bridge
This was taken from La Malbaie in Quebec which literally is Bad Bay. It was named by Samuel de Champlain since the low tides would stop all his boats.
More precisely, this is from a dock extending into the St-Laurence River.
Update: I'll be retroactively adding links to the old posts where I have full panorama so you can immerse yourself in it.

A nice library
Last week I went around to find something to shoot. I found a library that was quite nice and tried out my HDR skills on them. Here are the nicest shots (click on the pictures to get to a bigger version)
As I was leaving, I saw the other side of the building. Thanks to the red light, I was able to grab my camera from the passenger seat and get the last shot of the day. After a tight crop, it ended up my favorite picture of the set.

Looking down to the Fireworks!
My girlfriend and I went out to look at the fireworks that evening. We positioned our chairs with our feet just over the pond the days rain had created. We hoped that nobody would sit too close and block the view. The only people that came between us and the fireworks were a few people leaning on the rock wall, at the edge of the lake.
Little did I know that this pond would not only clear the view, but play part in my favorite picture of the days.

Empty Playground
We have a little playground 2 blocks from home. Swings, soccer field, and a big metal structure with slide, little climbing wall and other cool things.
Since I go there on a regular basis with the kids, and that my camera follows me, I tried to do it handheld on a few occasions, but the stitch was always awful. So one time, I brought the tripod, and did it properly.
Classic 10mm setup : 16 images * 3 exposures + nadir * 3. Everything stitched perfectly (did one minor post stitch correction)
Next time I take something like this, I'll need to have the kids in it.
And the little planet that goes with it!

Tadoussac Harbor at Night
One day while on vacation at Tadoussac, after the kids were gone to bed, I grabbed my stuff and went to see what could be a nice picture. I always liked long exposures, and water reflections. So I went on the beach and took a series of pictures of the harbor. I was afraid that the long exposure would make all the boats blurry, but the waves decided to cooperate. Just left of the last boat, the series of light on the shore seem to be Riviere-Du-Loup. I didn't expect to catch this since the St-Laurence River is about 20 km wide at this point.

Tadoussac Sand Dunes
Last summer vacation, we went to see the whales at Tadoussac. The morning before the boat trip (or should I say the planned boat trip since the shuttle "forgot" to come and get us and we had to reschedule...) we went to see the sand dunes. The kids and nani were playing in the sand, up in the dune. I walked down.
Actually, I ran all the way down. The sand just softens every step (and slows down any attempt to go back up...). I took 2 pano down, and one halfway going back up (a.k.a. I'm in shape and could have gone back up without stopping, but halfway was sooooooo nice I had to stop for pictures). This is the only one I processed so far. It was taken from one end of the dunes, where there were plenty of rocks. Though this would be a nicer background.
Classic 10mm setup: 16 * 3 exposures each + nadir * 3 exposure
Made 3 stereographic with this one. This one is a Waterworld style planet.
The next 2 are quite similar, but in one I liked the sun, and in the other I liked the clouds circling the planet. Couldn't decide, so kept both.
Interactive View.
Thanks for viewing.

Quebec Parliament
In August, I was wandering in old Quebec city taking photos and panos. This came out as my favorite (yet... still have not processed all of them).
This is a full Equirectangular 360 * 180 projection. It was fully shot at 10mm. It required 16 images * 3 exposures each. I also need a nadir (i.e. the picture of where the tripod was) but did a bad job this time (and every shot this evening... changed technique afterward). So the only solution was to use the brick and pavement tool in photoshop to rebuild the little square that was missing in the bottom.
The most complicated of shooting this one was that it was a nice day outside in the end of the tourists season. So I had to way for groups to pass by. Even so, I do have a few ghosts in the picture in it's original resolution. At this size, quite difficult to see.
From this one (once the pavement was finished), I had fun with stereographic projections.
A classic planetoid. When shooting the pano, this was my objective and I like it.
I was surprised of this one; I like the symmetrical kaleidoscope style image. But the last one is kind of the best.
Nothing like a crooked Parliament to represent reality. I'll need to reshoot this pano to get a higher resolution because this version is stretched beyond it's original resolution.

Fraisonoïde
This was taken while the whole family was picking up strawberries in the field (a.k.a. I'm taking pictures and the others doing the picking up)
I din't plan on taking any pano, so I only had my camera, and a 17-55 lens (I usually take my pano at 10mm). I decided to try one handheld. Well, it took 34 Images to cover a little more than half a sphere (I did no shoot the whole sky). Being handheld, stitching was not perfect, but at this resolution, you cannot see the few plants that ended up blurry.
